Ingredients

  • chicken wings (12 pieces) - about 1 pound
  • vegetable oil (2 tablespoons) - for frying or baking
  • garlic powder (0.5 teaspoon)
  • freshly ground black pepper (0.5 teaspoons)
  • salt (0.5 teaspoons)
  • ranch dressing (0.25 cup) - for dipping
  • cut into sticks celery (3 stalks)
  • white vinegar (1 teaspoons)
  • hot sauce (4 tablespoons) - Frank's RedHot or similar brand
  • melted unsalted butter (3 tablespoons)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken Wings

  • Rinse and pat dry the chicken wings.
  • Season the wings with salt, pepper, and garlic powder evenly.

Cook the Wings

  • If frying: Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 375°F (190°C). Fry chicken wings in hot oil until crispy and golden brown, about 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  • If baking: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place wings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and lightly brush with oil. Bake for about 45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and cooked through.

Prepare Buffalo Sauce

  • In a small saucepan, combine melted butter, hot sauce, and vinegar. Stir until well combined and heated through.

Coat the Wings

  • In a large bowl, toss the cooked wings with the buffalo sauce until fully coated.

Serve

  • Arrange wings on a serving platter with celery sticks.
  • Serve immediately with a side of ranch dressing for dipping.

Tips

  • For an extra crispy texture, you can coat the wings lightly with cornstarch before frying or baking.
  • Adjust the heat level of the sauce by adding more or less hot sauce according to your preference.
  • You can substitute ranch dressing with blue cheese dressing if you prefer a tangy flavor.
  • For a healthier option, consider air frying the wings at 400°F (200°C) for about 18-20 minutes, shaking halfway through.
  • If you like grilled wings, you can cook them on the grill over medium heat until crispy and charred.
